Europe with the Family Part III

We ended our trip in Amsterdam. It wasn’t originally part of the plan but Bernard and I had convinced our parents to add it onto the list. On our first official morning in Amsterdam, Bernard and I stayed in our hotel room while our parents explored the city. We shared a few grams of truffles, put on some Mac Demarco, and got comfortable in our own beds. After 15 or so minutes, I had started to giggle like a little girl for no apparent reason. And then I started seeing visuals. I saw myself being lifted by two fairies and flying away into the sky. And then the pictures faded away. I decided to change things up a bit and got out of bed to switch the music. Bernard was asking me what I was doing. I told him to wait. And then I put on the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album by The Beatles.

As the echo of loud drums and guitar streaks played, Bernard started tripping. For the next couple hours, I listened to Bernard repeatedly say, “Woah . . . Wow . . . What the! . . . Wow . . . Life! . . . It all makes sense!” I on the other hand, was having a very different experience.

To be continued . . .
