Newcastle Part I

I had absolutely ZERO photos from Newcastle so here's a screenshot from a Snapchat video.

We didn’t know what to expect from Newcastle. Every time we told someone we were going there, they’d say “Newcastle? Why would you go there?” But we went to reunite with my friends, Ellie and Lewi. I’d met them while they were on working/holiday in Perth. Ellie was working with me in Zara and I told her I’d come visit her in England one day.

Out of all the cities we were visiting in Europe, we never thought we’d get interrogated in Newcastle. The lady at the airport literally said, “I’m just trying to figure out why you’d come to Newcastle.” We eventually made it out of the airport and into our hostel. Having just come from a fun party hostel in Barcelona, we were expecting a similar experience. But it didn’t turn out that way. It was small and awkward and we weren’t allowed to make much noise.

We met up with Ellie and Lewi for a Sunday roast at a local pub, reminisced on old times, and then they were off to go back to Sheffield. Lien and I spent our first night getting lost around town and then being grateful for free street Wi-Fi to help us find our way back to our accommodation.

During the day, all we really did was walk around town and impulse buy unnecessary things because what else is there to do during the day in Newcastle? Our last day we literally went to the cinema twice. In a row. As for the nights, they were a different story.

To be continued . . .
